Journey to the Center of the Earth

You should definitely watch this movie in 3D! Kids and adults alike will enjoy this film, especially if you don't try to think much. Don't be an adult when you see this and you will be entertained. C'mon, don't analyze too much!

Starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson (I can't forget his previous movie, Little Manhattan!), and Anita Briem, an Icelandic actress best known for her role as Jane Seymour in The Tudors. Brendan seems to be perfect for adventure-filled movies. Watch out for his upcoming film: The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, to be released worldwide on Aug 1.

Being Spontaneous

Well, it was raining this afternoon and suddenly my sister told me, "Ate Chun, ligo tayo sa ulan!" Of course she was just teasing me. Then I said, "Sige!" Then I ran out to the porch, shrieking like a child who can't wait to play in the rain.

"Tara na!" I told my sister, who was still on the phone. She didn't want to but I forced her out of the living room and into the pitter-patter of the rain. Our neighbor then saw us and our initial reaction was that of embarrassment. But what the heck! IT WAS SO FUN! A great time to enjoy getting wet and laughing our hearts out without a care in the world. For me, the experience was priceless. I highly recommend it!
The Secret

What is "The Secret" that many people have been talking about? If you check out the official website http://thesecret.tv, you may find it a bit creepy -- it actually reminded me of Da Vinci's Code.

The Secret is a movie created by Australian Rhonda Bryne, and she tells people that if they follow its philosophy, you can create the life you want - whether that means getting out of debt, finding a more fulfilling job, or even falling in love. Intruiging, huh? For those who prefer to read, there is also a book written by Bryne.

I may not agree to all the "secret" teachings but what struck me was how the author's life was changed because of her discovery of this "secret". "Since I discovered the Secret, every single moment of my entire life has changed, and I am living my life for the first time", Rhonda says in Oprah's show.

Here are some of the "secret" teachings on relationships taken from the website:

You can completely transform any relationship, no matter what it's like right now.

Ev...

Hey, I'm an Angelina fan -- what can I say? Seriously, this movie is heart-pounding, soul-provoking, and mind-twisting. The car chase scenes gripped me, and made me secretly wish I could actually and legally drive like that once in a while.

I shrieked in the cinema a number of times.
100 -- Starring Mylene Dizon

"According to filmmaker Chris Martinez, his official entry to Cinemalaya is a "celebration of the senses and what life has to offer." His goal was to do a film about death in a young fresh way. By doing so he believes he celebrates life. 100 chronicles the last three months of a cancer-stricken woman (played by Mylene Dizon) who has a list of things to do before she dies. Her list of tasks, mostly dealing with closure and practical matters, covers the worldly and spiritual worlds as people close to her share her last days. The film examines the betrayal of the body, celebrates the senses and contemplates the end of life and how to live it. A light-hearted, briskly paced, youthful take on a classic subject, 100 stars today’s most exciting performers such as Mylene Dizon, Eugene Domingo, Tessie Tomas, TJ Trinidad, Ryan Eigenmann, Simon Ibarra, and others. Under the creative supervision of Marlon Rivera, 100 is written and directed by Chris Martinez." - Dagupena

Huling Pasada -- Starring Agot Isidro

"The tale of a prolific writer and her taxi-driver subject and the parallelisms and contrasts of their lives. It boasts of strong performances by the underrated Neil Ryan Sese and Agot Isidro." -Ed H. Pangilinan, Manila Times

"The title, according to director Paul Sta. Ana, refers to the taxi driver’s shift and to a writer’s most previous work. The story follows the creative process of Ruby, a prolific writer, abandoned wife and protective mother. She writes about Mario, a taxi driver who becomes a father figure to a street child in the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. As Ruby tries to resolve Mario and child’s story, she seeks refuge in her own creative output: the line between reality and fiction is blurred, and her character’s past is entangled with her own inevitable future. Two Ateneans share the directing duties for Huling Pasada: Paul Sta. Ana and Alvin Yapan." - Dagupena Dreamer

The Benefits of Boredom

It talked about boredom, and I wondered what the author had to say about it. Here goes:

"We're taught from childhood that doing something (anything!) is preferable to doing nothing. But allowing yourself to relax into boredom can be very rewarding, as it gives your mind room to process your thoughts. Turn your attention inward and you'll find there's a lot going on in there. Boredom makes you realize what your worries and priorities are. Watch it without judgment and you'll experience a very comforting feeling - that your thoughts are not you, just things you're thinking. So next time you feel bored, just sit with it and let your brain bounce around until it comes to a peaceful pause."

This is a photo of Beethoven, jimhankey's lovely dog courtesy of Flickr photostream. She's truly ass-kickin' in this film! I can't wait to see her in her next movie, Wanted, as she takes on another ass-kickin' role as an assasin.
Rufus

Last week, Rufus couldn't go to work with me since he was not feeling well. He was feeling intense pain on the same spot where he had a minor surgery some months ago. I didn't expect he would undergo the same sickness again. He had to stay home for almost a week, since I didn't have the time to take him to the doctor for a checkup.

Today, Rufus was brought to the hospital for another operation. It cost me 2,500 and I am hoping he will remain in good condition for the coming months. I am still saving up for another surgery since his side needs to be reconstructed due to a minor accident we encountered before.
